How to Make Spiralized Zucchini Noodles
Did you know you can turn zucchini into noodles AKA "zoodles"?
Using zucchini instead of pasta is a great way to have more veggies and less carbs in your meal!
How to Make Spiralized Zucchini Noodles
You will need:
- Sauce pot with a lid
- Steamer basket
- Spiralizer (I have the 5 blade model)
- Knife and cutting board
- Zucchini AKA summer squash- relatively straight 6-10 oz. zucchini work best
Method:
Use the spiralizer to cut zucchini into noodles shapes.
Add enough water to the saucepot to just touch the bottom of the steamer basket and cover with a lid. Heat the water until boiling.
Once the water is boiling, add the zucchini noodles to the steamer basket and cover with a lid. Set a timer for 5 minutes.
Steam for 5 minutes then remove a zucchini noodle and taste test. It may take 5-10 minutes to cook, depending on how thick or thin your noodles are and how tender you want them.
After they are cooked, remove from the pot and serve!
See below for a photo tutorial.
Here is what you will need.
Cut off the ends of the zucchini parallel to one another.
Put the zucchini on the spiralizer and crank away!
After the noodles are cut, you will end up with scraps like this.
I don't want to waste anything so I cut up the scraps into smaller pieces and cook them with the noodles.
After the noodles are cooked, add your favorite topping or sauce and serve!
